Review: Nexus Ace Small Vibrating Butt Plug

The Nexus Ace small butt plug has all the features I look for in a good it’s made of silicone, it’s waterproof, fully rechargeable and it’s got a nice narrow neck with a flared t-bar base. Its shape is perfect for my taste, it’s nicely tapered for easy insertion and large enough to stay put, but not too large to be uncomfortable. I think it would be ideal for people who are new to butt plugs, or for people like myself who only enjoy small anal toys.

Packaging

The Nexus Ace small butt plug comes in a simple, stylish black and purple box. The product is pictured on the front, and the back has a written description of the Nexus Ace small butt plug and its features. The inner box slides out to reveal the Nexus Ace small butt plug and its remote control safely nestled in a cardboard mold. Under the cardboard mold, you’ll find a little multi-lingual user manual and a USB charging cable.

The box is fairly sturdy and not too bulky, so it could be used for long-term storage of the butt plug if you would like. However, I was a little disappointed that it didn’t come with a nice little storage bag, as that would be ideal to keep the Nexus Ace small butt plug clean and safe.

Charging

Before first use, you will need to fully charge the Nexus Ace small butt plug. The Nexus Ace small butt plug has two magnetic points at the very base of it, which the charging cable connects to easily with a satisfying click. Magnetic chargers are a good feature because it means the product stays completely watertight, which I think is important, particularly with anal toys which need to be cleaned thoroughly.

Once the magnetic end of the charger is connected to the base of the plug, you need to plug the USB end into any active USB port. I use a wall plug. Once it is connected correctly, a little LED will glow red at the base of the plug. When it is fully charged the LED will glow green, which takes around 80 minutes.

The remote control isn’t rechargeable; it takes batteries. It does come with a battery already installed, so it is good to go straight away. When it needs replacing, you have to push on the end of the remote which causes the little battery drawer to click out. You’ll need to buy CR2032 lithium button battery to replace it with. However, the Nexus Ace small butt plug will function without the remote control, so if you do run out of batteries, it’s not the end of the world.

Design & Functions

The Nexus Ace small butt plug is 10cm in total length, with a diameter of 3cm at the widest insertable part of the plug, and a base width of 5.2cm. With butt plugs, it is important that the base is significantly larger than the widest point of the plug because this reduces the risk of the plug travelling inside your anus. The Nexus Ace small has a nice small tip that gradually tapers out to the widest point, which makes it nice and gentle to insert. The neck of the Nexus Ace small butt plug is very narrow, which makes it comfortable to wear, as your sphincter can close around it.

Six raised ridges circle the very lowest part of the plug, and the neck, which I guess are there for extra stimulation. The whole plug is encased in lovely black silicone which feels lovely and soft to the touch. I can’t see a single seam on it, it feels like a high-quality material.

Nexus ace vibrating butt plug remote and battery

On the base of the Nexus Ace small butt plug is a single button. Click this button once, and the LED will glow green to indicate the plug is on. Now you can either use the remote control or continue to click the button on the plug. Both buttons work in the same way, and you can use them interchangeably. The next click of the button turns the Nexus Ace small butt plug on at the first function, which is a constant vibration. The next two clicks increase the intensity of the constant vibration. Function 4 is a slower pulsing mode, and function 5 is a very fast pulsing vibration (think quick tapping). Function 6, the final function, is an oscillation where the intensity of vibration slowly ramps up to full power then sharply drops back to the lowest level. Clicking either button past setting 6 will take you back to setting one, the lowest constant vibration mode. You need to hold either button down for a second or so to stop the plug vibrating. If you hold down the button on the actual base of the plug, it will turn it off properly. If you hold down the button on the remote control, the plug will stop vibrating, but it will still be on, so you’ll need to use the button on the plug to turn it off properly (the light will go out when it is off).

The remote control does have a very good range; I was impressed. I left the plug running in the bedroom and walked out of the room, and I could still change the setting from a whole room away. This is great if you plan to hand over the remote to a partner, as they won’t need to be right next to you to control your plug.

Using the Nexus Ace

Before I inserted the Nexus Ace small butt plug, I clicked the on the button so that the LED glowed green. I didn’t turn on any vibrations, but switching it on at this stage saved having to feel for the button once it was inside my butt.

I found the Nexus Ace small butt plug easy to insert and comfortable to keep in. I applied a lot of thick water-based lube to the whole plug, with extra lube around the neck and on the very tip. Never use silicone based lubes with silicone toys as it will damage them, read your lube bottle carefully as a lot of lubes marketed towards anal play are silicone based. I also massaged some water-based lube on to my anus in preparation. I then very slowly pushed the tip of the Nexus Ace small butt plug into my anus, breathing out as I pushed the whole length slowly inside. It slipped in fairly easily, and the flared t-bar base sat comfortably between my butt cheeks.

The feeling of just having a plug inside me was intense. All sensations felt heightened. I clicked the button on the remote control to turn on the vibrations. I found the vibrations strong and powerful, yet they are of the buzzy variety. I wouldn’t call the vibrations rumbly at all which was a little disappointing. The vibrations can be felt the strongest in the very tip of the plug, but are still very noticeably along its full length, including the neck, which I really enjoyed.

I’m usually a fan of constant vibrations, but with the Nexus Ace small butt plug, I very much enjoyed the oscillation pattern. I think this could be because the vibrations are buzzy, so feel a little harsh on the more intense settings, having then ramp up and down diffuses some of this harshness, and the changing intensity prevents my nerve endings becoming dulled to the sensation. ph

I used the Nexus Ace small butt plug alongside a clitoral toy to masturbate, and it did add to my orgasm. I enjoyed it alone for quite some time, but I’m not someone who can orgasm from anal stimulation alone. The clitoral stimulation felt some much more intense because of the added stimulation from the butt plug, and my orgasm was stronger as a consequence.

I also wore the Nexus Ace small butt plug during PIV (penis in vagina) sex with my partner. The butt plug made my vagina feel more filled by his penis, enhancing the experience for me. In this scenario, I appreciated having the remote control, as it made it so much easier for me to play around with the settings. graph

One thing that has happened, which I think is worth mentioning, is when I am on my back with the plugin I have accidentally hit the button by pressing my body into the mattress, which changed the setting unexpectedly. This was a little annoying, but as there are only 6 settings to scroll through it doesn’t take too long to get back to the setting that I want. I also can’t see how else the Nexus Ace small butt plug could be designed to avoid this happening. You need the button to be located on the base so you can push it during use.

Clean up is easy because the Nexus Ace small butt plug is waterproof and made from a body safe, non-porous material. I wash mine thoroughly in hot water and antibacterial soap, and every now and again I will sterilise it fully using baby bottle sterilising fluid.

Conclusions

Overall, I like the Nexus Ace small butt plug. It is a great shape for me, I like the design and materials and appreciate it having 6 functions (I can get a bit irritated by sex toys with too many functions). I think the remote control is great, it’s easy to use, and it has a good range. It’s a shame the remote is not rechargeable, but you can use the plug without it. The vibrations are a bit too buzzy for my taste, but I did enjoy the oscillation pattern, and it is not lacking in power for a toy of its size. I think the Nexus Ace small butt plug would be a good plug for someone who is fairly new to butt plugs, or to people like me who prefer only small plugs.
